Annual Lectures
Throughout term time, Imperial runs a series of annual lectures, many of which are named after notable staff, alumni or donors. Lectures in the series include:
- Frontiers in Natural Sciences
- The Sir Ernst Chain Lecture
- The Peter Lindsay Memorial Lecture
- The Vincent Briscoe Security Lecture
These prestigious annual lectures offer public audiences the opportunity to come to Imperial and hear from some of the world's most celebrated scientists or champions of industry across a range of subjects, which includes bioengineering, breakthroughs in medicine and life sciences and diversity in the workplace.
All our lectures are free to attend and some are now streamed online via our YouTube channel for those who cannot make it along to the event.
Imperial Inaugurals
Each year, Imperial appoints a group of brilliant new professors who give a public lecture as part of their promotion. Imperial's Inaugural Lecture series, entitled Imperial Inaugurals, provides a platform to celebrate these new professors. Each lecture represents a significant milestone in an academic's career, officially recognising their promotion and showcasing their research.
Current and Future Women Luminaries
Current and Future Women Luminaries was a special series of conversations, hosted by former President Alice P. Gast, to showcase our inspirational luminaries’ careers and to share lessons learned with the next generation of future stars. Imperial has amazing women who are leaders in their fields and provide inspiration to many inside and outside the university. When they talk about their research, teaching, and societal engagement, they inspire and motivate others.
‘Great Minds’ Conversation series
‘Great Minds’ is a series of one-on-one conversations with President Alice P. Gast, in which our special guest speakers share the ideas and experiences that have shaped their lives and careers. By sharing their expertise and wisdom, these alumni and friends of the College help us continue to inspire great minds.
Science Breaks
Science Breaks was a virtual event series showcasing the impact and relevance of Imperial's research and work taking place at the College. Topics included volcanoes, Leonardo Da Vinci and chocolate.
