Eligibility criteria

Only available to students who have been assessed with a Home fee status who are planning to undertake a full-time undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial beginning in 2024/25.

To be considered for this scholarships you must:

  • have an offer of admission to study at Imperial on a three or four year undergraduate programme in the Faculty of Natural Sciences
  • possess a Home fee status
  • have been assessed for financial support through Student Finance England (SFE) (or equivalent funding authority), with a SFE verified household income of less than £25,000 per annum by 11:59pm (UK time) on Friday 24 May 2024
  • be one of the following ethnic heritages: Black African; Black Caribbean; Mixed - White and Black African; Mixed - White and Black Caribbean; or Other mixed backgrounds (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)

Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.

Application process

Applicants must submit the Cowrie Scholarship 2024 application form and have been assessed for financial support through Student Finance England (or equivalent authority) by 11:59pm (UK time), Friday, 24th May 2024.

Additional information

Value

The scholarship covers 100% of the cost of tuition fees and provide an annual maintenance grant of £10,000. 

The maintenance grant of £10,000 is inclusive of any additional bursaries the scholar may be eligible for (e.g. the Imperial Bursary).

For example, if a scholar is eligible for an award of £5,000 from the Imperial Bursary, they will receive £5,000 from the Imperial Bursary and £5,000 from the Cowrie Foundation Scholarship. This means the total maintenance award will equate to £10,000 per annum.

One scholarship is available for 2024/25 for a student planning to undertake a full-time undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial beginning in 2024/25.

Outcome of the Award

The successful candidate will be notified by email no later than 31 July 2024. If you have not heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.
