Course overview

Examine how statistical ideas, tools and methods are used in almost all employment sectors on this Master's course.

You'll receive outstanding training in both theoretical and applied statistics and explore the use of statistics in sectors including banking and finance, government and medical research

This programme will also develop your appreciation of probability theory, statistical inference and applied and computational statistics.

You'll apply your knowledge from the course on an extensive research project, carried out in conjunction with a member of academic staff.

Your timetable and learning

Our taught modules draw on state-of-the-art multi-mode teaching practice. Our focus is on interactive and deep learning through in-person tutorial sessions with our academic teaching and research staff to maximize interactions with our academic experts, and build largely on custom-built, asynchroneous video lectures.

Assessment

The format of assessments will vary according to the aims, content and learning outcomes of each module.

We emphasize continuous learning, which will include courseworks, group assessments and tests throughout the year and written in-person examinations in May.

You'll also complete an extensive research project full-time between May and September. 

This will include an opportunity to work with a member of academic staff on a state-of-the-art research problem that suits your interests.
