To arrange a meeting with a counsellor please complete the registration form and submit this to us. To access the form you will need to enter your College login details when prompted (username and password).
The waiting time for an initial conversation is currently around 4 weeks. This is roughly the same for both in-person and remote appointments.
Please note we are currently experiencing high demand for appointments. We are more than happy to support you, but would encourage you to also self-refer to your local IAPT (psychological therapies) service, so you can see which of us become available to you first (though we will be able to offer you an initial conversation within the next few weeks, there will be a further wait following this for your ongoing sessions depending on your counsellors waitlist). You can find your local IAPT service here.
We would also like to highlight the support that is available to you via your departmental Wellbeing Advisers. Wellbeing Advisers are able to talk with you confidentially 1-2-1 about anything that’s on your mind, and they can further signpost you to the correct support available to you and your circumstances.
Lastly, if you are registered with the Imperial College Health Centre, they too can offer in-house counselling, and currently have availability. You can be referred for this via your GP, and again could see which service becomes available to you first.
If your situation is urgent please contact your doctor. Other sources of help and support can be found on our Other sources of support page
Once the registration form has been completed and received a member of the team will contact you by email to provide details of the next available appointment. When you receive this email you will need to reply to confirm your appointment. If you do not receive an email from us within three working days please contact us via email at counselling@imperial.ac.uk
If you have any issues completing the online registration form please contact +44 (0)20 7594 9637 or counselling@imperial.ac.uk for assistance.
We will always offer you the first available appointment we have. This time may vary at different times of the academic year. The wider the availability you have in terms of when you can attend the sooner you are likely to be seen.
The Student Counselling Service is not an emergency service. If you need to see someone urgently please contact your doctor or attend the accident and emergency department at your local hospital.
If you are based on the South Kensington campus you can also contact Imperial College Health Centre if you need to see someone very quickly.
