Student Programme Partner: GTA programme
My Research: My PhD explores first-year STEM students’ experiences with feedback and digital technologies as they transition from school to university.
Why I applied for this particular GTA role: I felt that I could use both my academic expertise in the theory of feedback and assessment, plus my professional experience as a qualified school science teacher, to support the development of the GTA Programme. I am passionate about the craft of teaching and want to help equip PhD students with the skills to teach effectively as part of their professional development.
Why I think professional development training is important: Professional development training offers you to the chance to explore both your personal and professional strengths, identify areas for improvement, and understand your professional preferences for after your PhD. Ultimately, it provides a valuable opportunity for self-reflection – helping you to assess where you currently stand, where you aspire to be, and the steps you need to take to get there.
