My Research: I’m investigating genetic networks in Alzheimer’s Disease to identify potential candidate therapeutic targets for drug repurposing strategies.

Why I applied for this particular SPP role: Embracing the dynamic intersection of research computing and data science has been a pivotal aspect of my academic journey, particularly within my PhD project. I recognize the impact these fields have on unlocking insights from vast datasets, a capability that’s important for full data analysis. In applying for this SPP role, I aim to foster a deeper engagement with the university community, channelling my expertise to advance the utilisation of research computing and data science. By championing their significance, I envision facilitating transformative research endeavours, ultimately propelling innovation and discovery. This role presents an invaluable opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic landscape while honing my proficiency in these pivotal domains.

Why I think professional development training is important: Engaging in professional development training is a cornerstone of personal and career growth. These specialised programs, like those offered by the Graduate School, equip young researchers with a diverse skill set that is out with their specific disciplines. Professional development training introduces a collaborative learning environment, fostering vibrant discussions and honing critical thinking skills. This collective approach not only enriches our understanding but also cultivates a network of like-minded peers across various fields. Embracing professional development training is not only an investment in individual development but also a testament to the broader, interdisciplinary nature of modern research.
