This course is an introduction to using EndNote. Managing the sources of information you retrieve throughout your PhD and research period is essential. EndNote is a software package that allows you to manage all the references you need for your papers, reports, essays or theses by enabling you to keep them in your own personal database or library. In addition, you can use it to insert citations into your documents. EndNote is compatible with Windows and Mac.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Recognise how to import references from various sources including research databases and Google Scholar.
  • Practice how to search databases within EndNote to import references.
  • Employ EndNote to manage your library of references effectively and to use group functions to be able to do this.
  • Organise your library of references within EndNote and be able to search within your references.
  • Use EndNote to be able to insert citations, figures and tables, and generate a bibliography in Microsoft Word.
