Whether your interview is within or outside academia, this course will help you understand the process and learn how to best prepare. Good preparation for an interview is the key to success and will give you the confidence to give your best performance on the day.

This course is delivered by the Imperial Careers Service, who support all current PhD students with their careers and PhD graduates for up to three years after graduation. 

Course Information

You will be referred to three optional activities to complete before the course. These should take no more than 30 minutes. Completing the activities will enable you to get more out of attending the course.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course you will be better able to:

  • Identify the range of activities that could occur during both academic and non-academic interviews
  • Assess the perspective of an employer during the interview
  • Analyse experiences and formulate answers to a range of questions that could be asked at interview
  • Develop a strategy to help you prepare for interview
  • Know how to access further support from The Careers Service
