This annual event is organised by the Graduate School to celebrate the research being carried out by the College’s PhD students.
The challenge for 2021's virtual competition was for students to communicate their research to a lay audience via a 3 minute video presentation.
Our team of offical judges assessed each presentation for its visual impact and content as well as the ability of the presenter to explain their research in a way that can be shared with the general public.
The results of the PhD Summer Showcase 2021 were as follows:
1st Prize | Francesca Lugaresi | Mechanical Engineering | Fire Safety of Glass Facades |
2nd Prize | Theo Hembury | Life Sciences | The Ecology and Technology of Microbial Fuel Cells |
3rd Prize | Laura Mereweather | Immunology and Inflammation | Investigating the Early Stages of Venous Thrombosis |
People's Choice Prize | Nagina Mangal | Surgery and Cancer | Characterising the oncological effects of Cannabidiol in Pancreatic ductal Adenocarcinoma |
