This annual event is organised by the Graduate School to celebrate the research being carried out by the College’s PhD students.
The challenge for 2020's virtual competition was for students to communicate their research to a lay audience via a 3 minute video presentation.
Our team of offical judges assessed each presentation for its visual impact and content as well as the ability of the presenter to explain their research in a way that can be shared with the general public.
The results of the PhD Summer Showcase 2020 were as follows:
1st Prize | Fabian Plum | Bioengineering | Teaching my Computer how to study Leafcutter Ants |
2nd Prize | Ugur Tanriverdi | Bioengineering | AI-Controlled Adaptive Robotics for Prosthetics & Wearable Technologies |
Joint 3rd Prize | Javier Cudeiro | Earth Science and Engineering | Seeing the brain with sound |
