The College uses the Hay method of Job Evaluation whereby the grade of a post is obtained by measuring the responsibilities and duties set out in the job description against three main factors:
- Knowledge
- Problem solving
- Freedom to Act.
It is possible to use the Knowledge scores to obtain a rough indication as to what grade your post should be in.
PLEASE NOTE that this is a rough guide only and you should speak to one of the Unite Job Evaluation specialists who have received Hay Training for a more accurate indication.
Unite has more experience of writing of the College regarding process than many managers and would recommend that anyone considering submitting a job level review application take advice from their trade union representative whether or not the application is being supported by your manager.
