As part of our commitment to the children attending Early Years, we ensure that we are following a curriculum that caters for each child’s individual needs. We follow the Early Years foundation stage statutory guidance which supports us in implementing the requirements of the EYFS.

Enabling Environments | Encouraging babies and children to play because they feel relaxed, comfortable and 'at home', the importance of an enabling environment is paramount. The emotional environment, outdoor environment and the indoor environment together make up the environment for play and learning in the EYFS |
Learning and Development | Children's learning reflects their constant development - one new skill often leads to new opportunities to learn more. The seven areas of learning are divided into Prime and Specific areas - these are detailed below. |
Learning and Development
Children constantly developing and as they learn new skills, opportunities open for more learning. For example, when a child learns to pull themselves up to stand, they can suddenly reach things they couldn't before. The EYFS uses the term Learning and Development to describe 7 areas of learning:
Prime
- Personal, social and emotional development - self-confidence and self-awareness; managing feelings and behaviour; making relationships
- Communication and language - listening and attention; understanding; speaking
- Physical development - moving and handling; health and self-care
Specific areas:
- Literacy - reading; writing
- Mathematics - numbers; shapes, space and measures
- Understanding the world - people and communities, the world; technology
- Expressive arts and design - exploring and using media and materials; being imaginitive

The EYFS tracker is an online system that has been developed to track a child achieving their developmental milestones and where staff can plan for the child’s next developmental steps. This is through staff writing observations and providing evidence by inserting photographs. The tracker is designed to follow the key stages in the EYFS statutory framework and enables staff to easily upload key information about all the children attending the Early Years.
