AB - This chapter provides a description of the Geostationary Earth Radiation Budget (GERB) experiment, placed in the context of the need for high temporal resolution observations of the Earth’s reflected shortwave and outgoing longwave radiation. The GERB instrument design, calibration and data products are outlined in detail, scientific insights gained from the project thus far are highlighted and future directions discussed.
