Project title: Design and Implementation of Efficient Homomorphic Encryption for Cloud Security
PI: Dr Cong Ling
Department of PI: Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Funding agency: UK Government
Summary of project:
The recent breakthrough in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) shows that it is theoretically possible to securely perform computations on encrypted data without the secret decryption key. Due to the huge potential of FHE in numerous applications such as secure cloud computing, it has been the focus of extensive study. However, existing FHE schemes are impractical due to their high implementation complexity. This project is aimed at the design of efficient ring-based FHE schemes. A main thrust is to harness the theory of lattice coding to improve the efficiency of FHE.
