easySTORM
easySTORM is a technique to implement single molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM) on almost any fluorescence microscope, including instruments based on our openFrame. A typical implementation comprises multimode diode lasers for excitation, multimode optical fibre (MMF) and a fibre-vibrator to provide uniform illumination with time-averaged speckle, and a set of optomechanical components for the openExcite illuminator to couple the excitation light from the MMF to the microscope (e.g. via the lamp illumination port on a commercial microscope).

The figure below shows some easySTORM super-resolved images of fixed Hela cells with tubulin immunolabelled with ifluor-647 imaged using a low-cost, uncooled CMOS camera and a 1.4 NA objective lens with an openFrame microscope.
