The Tavernor family
“The friendly atmosphere at the College means that students are not afraid to take on new challenges”
Ros Tavernor is a member of the Family and Friend's Programme; her son, James, is in his first year of the Joint Computing and Mathematics degree in Imperial’s Faculty of Engineering. We recently caught up with the Tavernors, who shared their thoughts on joining the Imperial family.
“It’s clear from the university league tables, and from James’s experiences on his course so far, that Imperial is among the academic elite. The tutorials are in small groups which allows the tutor to give time to each student and to develop good working relationships, which helps them to achieve their full potential.
However, what has really impressed me about the College is the pastoral care. The roadshows and meet-and-greet events around the UK were very friendly and informative, and the activities put on in the first weeks of term really help students feel at home.
The friendly atmosphere means that students are not afraid to take on new challenges, both as individuals and in groups. My son has made a great start at Imperial and is making lots of interesting and dynamic friends. I am sure that, thanks to studying at Imperial, they will all have fantastic, successful futures.”
