Five core scientific disciplines - chemistry, life sciences, mathematics, physics and environmental policy - form the backbone of the Faculty's teaching and research activities. Our research harnesses the breadth of our expertise to meet the changing needs of society, industry and healthcare, and to address the global challenges of climate change, energy, global health and security. We have made significant progress producing groundbreaking research and world changing collaborations.
Our work at Faculty level focuses on four themes, each led by theme champions and supported by the Faculty's research strategy team. By focusing on these four areas we aim to connect expertise across the Faculty, identify cross-cutting themes and find new ways to translate our expertise and science leadership into real-world impact.
Activity within the research themes focuses on grant-getting and coordinating funding opportunities, industrial collaboration and improving mobility of personnel. Find out more about our themes below.
