James Meakin
James was asked to give a conference paper at the ISMRM conference, April 2009. While completing a UROP project, under the supervision of Dr Larkman, James developed a novel method for motion detection for Diffusion MR of the Preterm brain. The department was pleased to help him with his finances to go to the conference and present his results.

Arianna Renzini
This paper calculated the specific lensing signal due to the angular momentum of spinning black holes. This tiny signal could, in principle, be differentiated from the normal bending due to the gravitational mass of the black hole.

Eunice Chen and Adrian Bayer

Eunice Chen and Adrian Bayer did summer placements with the HEP Dark Matter group in 2014 and 2015, respectively. They helped build electrostatic and optical simulation models of the liquid xenon detector we used to study the spurious electron emission observed from metal electrodes in our experiments. This has plagued noble liquid detectors for dark matter and neutrino searches for decades, and we were able to diagnose the problem and find a solution which we are now applying to the full scale experiments. To recognise their contributions they were both authors in the publication which resulted from this 4-year long project (Tomas et al, Astroparticle Physics 103 (2018) 49-61.
