For our entry to the Art in Science competition we decided to draw go back to the original forms of botany and micology. Before fotografy was invented/available to scientists drawing was the only way to convey images of the studied organisms. With the advent of fotography botanical art has separated itself from the everyday world of scientists and as far as we are aware there has not been much drawing of organisms/part of organisms that can be viewed with new generation microscopy techniques such as confocal of lightsheet. We therefore drew confocal images of organisms we work with.
