The first year will be focussed on two core, mandatory pensions technical modules, based around the content of several existing Advanced Diploma modules. As this is a significant amount of content it will involve an intense period of study. The two modules outlined below are each likely to be capable of further being split into two so that the period of core study can be spread over two years.
As the technical content of the core modules will have been covered by those who already hold PMI’s Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision or equivalent it is likely that such individuals would not be required to undertake these modules.
(A) Providing for Retirement
This module provides a broad knowledge and understanding of:
- the issues surrounding retirement provision and long terms social and political objectives providing for retirement
- the different options available, and in what circumstances each might be appropriate
- new and developing savings patterns
(B) Pensions, Employee Benefits and Retirement Saving Arrangements
This module provides a broad knowledge and understanding of the:
- legal aspects and issues relating to UK pension arrangements
- principles of design, administration and financing for both trust and contract based arrangements
- the main employee benefits and retirement saving options, their value, and how they interact with saving for retirement
