Research Area
Advanced tomographic microscopy for damage modelling in steels
The main aim of my research is to develop a multiscale damage model based on micro-FE and tomographic measurements, which could predict damage nucleation and evolution of voids around MnS inclusions occurring in leaded free cutting steel. This is to introduce micro-FEM damage models for hot rolling applications, to complement the continuum models and provide finer scale detail and understanding. The models would be used for TATA UK hot rolling applications. TATA Steel UK is the industrial sponsor of the project.
