Eligibility criteria

MultiSci iCASE Studentships are only available for studies which have not yet commenced. Please ensure you read these eligibility criteria before making an application.

MultiSci iCASE awards cannot be held in the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS), which is an MRC unit within Imperial College London, and runs its own PhD programme.

Academic eligibility

Applicants are normally required to hold, or expect to receive, a first class or a good upper second class Honours degree (or equivalent), and a Masters degree. Please note that international candidates may be subject to different entry requirements. Please refer to the guidance for Academic Requirements (Country and Region Index).

Studentships awarded based on predicted grades will be conditional upon final results.

Residence eligibility

Candidates of all nationalities are eligible to apply for a MultiSci iCASE studentship, and successful candidates will receive funding that includes tuition fees covered at home level. Please see the FAQs page.

Home students:
Successful home applicants will be awarded full funding. To be classed as a home student, applicants must meet criteria as set out on our fee status page. If an applicant does not meet the criteria to be classed as a home student, they would be classed as an international student.

International students:
International applicants are welcome to apply for MultiSci iCASE studentships but places are restricted. This means that studentships are only offered to exceptional international applicants and are highly competitive. Prospective international applicants should note the following:

  • Successful international applicants will be awarded an identical funding package as home applicants, with tuition fees covered at UKRI level. This means that the department that a student intends to register with will be asked to make up the difference to the international tuition level. This is not always possible and as such there may be restrictions on which department an international MultiSci student can do their PhD in.
  • Successful international applicants will be required to cover their visa and related costs, as these cannot be covered by the studentship or Imperial College London.

If you have any questions regarding your fee status, please refer to the guidance on the fee status page.

Other funding sources

Please see the Imperial College London Scholarships Search Tool for other funding opportunities. Each opportunity has different eligibility criteria so please check carefully before applying.
