The ICTU Infection theme was formalised in 2023 following the establishment of an exciting collaboration between the Department of Infections Disease at Imperial College London and the newly funded Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Theme at the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The new therapeutic area builds on existing expertise in delivering HIV studies and will expand to focus on developing randomised clinical trials on the following key strands: rapid diagnostics, bacterial infection treatment trials, chronic viral infection, vaccine and human challenge.
