Centre Director - Professor Martin Wilkins

Prof Martin WilkinsProfessor Martin Wilkins is the Director of the BHF Centre for Research Excellence. His primary research interest is in developing new treatments for pulmonary hypertension. His current work uses genetics, proteomics and metabolomics to define disease pathways in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension with the aim of identifying novel druggable targets and personalised medicines. With his background in clinical pharmacology and cardiovascular medicine, and in his capacity as Vice-Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Medicine and Director of the NIHR Clinical Research Facility, Professor Wilkins is ideally placed to identify and drive the science projects across the College and guide and position studies for clinical evaluation.
