Booking can be arranged through the Facility Manager, Parisa Amjadi (parisa.amjadi@imperial.ac.uk). The minimum booking time is a one-hour session. If you are interested in using our cell sorting facility, please first contact Parisa Amjadi to discuss the safety and practical aspects of your sorting experiment, and then follow the instructions below on how to register.
Depending on whether you are an internal Imperial College user or an external user, the requirements and procedure for booking are laid out below.
Imperial College users vs external users
Imperial College users
- A completed F001 Biological Risk Assessment form, which assesses samples for pathogenic and GM potential, must be submitted to the Facility Manager prior to initiating a sorting experiment.
- Users are required to create an account on PPMS and register their grant code in order to have access to the facility. Click on the link PPMS user account creation form and select the “Account Creation Request” tab at the top of the page and use Imperial as your institution.
- A Sort application form (Word) must be completed and returned to the Facility Manager prior to booking.
- Once the form has been received, and if the information provided is sufficient, you will receive a confirmation email to say that your sorting slot has been booked. Please note that submitting a sort application form does not guarantee a sorting slot and you should not set up sorting experiments before receiving a booking confirmation email.
- There is no need to resubmit this form when booking multiple slots for subsequent sorts of the same kind, as long as the risks associated with the experimental procedures will remain the same. Please note that each sorting slot will be regarded as a separate sort, which requires a minimum of one-hour booking.
External users
- Researchers from other institutions must provide a formal risk assessment for the experimental procedure.
- External users are required to create an account on PPMS in order to have access to the facility. Click on the link PPMS user account creation form and select the “Account Creation Request” tab at the top of the page and use the option of Imperial not as your institution (use G12345 for grant code).
- A purchase order (PO) number must be raised prior to booking. The PO should be sufficient to cover their usage; only the cost for the actual usage will be invoiced.
- A Sort application form (Word) must be completed and returned to the Facility Manager before booking a sorting slot.
- Once the form has been received, and if the information provided is sufficient, you will receive a confirmation email to say that your sorting slot has been booked. Please note that submitting a sort application form does not guarantee a sorting slot and you should not set up sorting experiments before receiving a booking confirmation email.
- There is no need to resubmit these forms when booking multiple slots for subsequent sorts of the same kind, as long as the risks associated with the experimental procedures will remain the same. Please note that each sorting slot will be regarded as a separate sort, which requires a minimum of one-hour booking.
