We aim to improve the health of the population, patients' experience of their primary healthcare and health outcomes for patients, and reduce health inequalities. To achieve these objectives, our research is focused on areas such as:

- optimising the management of conditions such as diabetes and heart disease
- encouraging self-care
- developing innovations and improvements in the delivery of primary care
We have established ourselves as a leading academic primary care department; combining local, national and international research with teaching and training programmes.
