There are two types of software categories. The first is free software that is covered by the College's campus agreement site licenses. The second is software that must be paid for. All paid for software should be purchased by a member of DIDE IT. Software must be paid for from project or grant funding, and the project/grant number must therefore be given when requesting software.
Software
The College provides a range of free software for both staff and students. DIDE PCs and laptops may come with some of this software pre-installed, but if it's not you can register and download any required applications from the ICT Software Store. Some of the more commonly used applications that are available include;
- EndNote
- Matlab
- Microsoft Office
- Reference Manager
- SPSS
As well as the free software detailed above, the Software Store can also provide discounted licences for numerous software packages. These licences must be paid for from a project/grant code and the purchase is arranged via DIDE IT. Some of the more commonly used packages include;
- Adobe Acrobat/Creative Suite
- Intel Compilers
- Maple
- Mathematica
- Stata & Stat/Transfer
DIDE has three departmental software licenses that it has paid for and that everyone in the department can use if they wish. The software available is:
- ArcGIS
- MathType
- SAS
Please note that the cost of the departmental license is spread between the groups that have people that use the software. If you would like to use one of these items of software, please contact a member of DIDE IT who will give you access to the software installation files on our server.
