I work in the Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium where we pull together estimates from different mathematical modelling groups so that we can calculate the lives saved by vaccination. As part of this, we also look into questions around equity in vaccine access ie. who is being missed by vaccination in a population. I am also a member of the COVID-19 response team and have worked on other outbreaks such as Ebola.
I have been working on outbreak responses for a while and one of the things that always stands out is when people are kind under pressure. I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by excellent colleagues who have remained calm and thoughtful despite the stress. This inspires me every day.
I am most proud of getting through 2020! Here is for a more optimistic 2021.
Like so many people I have found it difficult being away from family and friends. One of the things that has helped was a daily photo competition where we would share snapshots of our days. This was fun and a nice way to catch up with everyone.
