Overview
The Department of Infectious Disease was awarded an Athena Swan Silver Award in May 2021.
The mission statement of our Department is to
- build a diverse and inclusive research community
- apply excellent science and develop new approaches to address the unmet clinical needs for the control of infectious disease, both here in the UK and internationally
The Department of Infectious Disease’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee has a wide remit and aims to support all staff by engaging across College and beyond on issues including Race Equality, Disability and LGBT matters. The Athena SWAN self-assessment team is embedded in the EDI committee and we are committed to upholding the Athena SWAN Charter.
One of the priorities is to recruit fellows from more diverse backgrounds – please see our Fellowship advice webpage for more information.
Integral to EDI is continuing to improve the workplace culture of the department and we are looking to undertake initiatives to increase inclusivity.
