Meet Mr James Kinross
What course do you teach on and what is your role?
I am the co-Course Director of the Masters in Health Care and Design.
How has your career led you to teaching?
I am an academic surgeon, and I have always been engaged in teaching at an undergraduate and post-graduate level.
What aspect of the course do you enjoy teaching the most?
The best part of this course is the peer to peer learning. We have such a diverse set of students, many of whom come from health, industry or design backgrounds with a vast wealth of experience. It's inspiring to see how design brains at work in a health environment and to see clinicians and scientists apply creative thinking to real world healthcare challenges.
What do you hope your students will go on to achieve on completion of this course?
The course sets up our students with a tool kit to making real world impacts in healthcare. Sometimes this is in entrepreneurism, but it is often in industry or in well established healthcare systems. Wherever it is, it has an impact on the lived experience of patients and healthcare systems.
What is your favourite part about teaching at Imperial College London?
The calibre of the students we get to meet and interact with.
