Matt Ryan
I’ve worked across sectors in a range of roles in my career, including the Department for Education and Skills, The OSCE in Kosovo, Concern Universal in Ghana and Imperial for the last seven years. In each of these roles, I’ve been interested in organisational culture and have learned a range of lessons, both good and bad, on how organisations motivate, manage and support staff individually and as a group.
My interest in bullying and harassment, unconscious bias and mentoring all come from awareness built through the excellent training courses I’ve received while here as well as through my role supporting staff with a range of related issues. I created the working from home policy for the Department during the Olympics and have thrived since working from home one day per week. I’m about to become a parent for the first time and will take my lessons from supporting a pregnant wife, shared parental leave and beyond to help the Committee to improve policies that support parents in the Department, as well as policies to support those who have suffered the loss of a pregnancy.
What we're doing
I’ve worked to develop the new mentoring database with Nick Wood to ensure the matching process is smooth and effective. I’ve created the bullying and harassment anonymous reporting tool to ensure there is a range of mechanisms for reporting inappropriate behavior to the College.
How To get help
- Bullying and Harassment anonymous reporting tool
- Surgery and Cancer mentoring scheme
- Information on bullying and harassment
- Unconscious bias training (one of the best training’s I’ve attended at the College)
