Spirometers are devices that assess a person’s lung function. Performing a spirometry test involves using a large and clunky device under professional supervision. This project aimed to offer a cheap, compact and user-friendly alternative. The team created a wireless, battery powered spirometer which communicates via Bluetooth with an Android app (Pulmo) that displays the measured data for the user to visualise and share with their medical experts. This product would enable users to self-administer spirometry tests for an affordable price of £90, which could cater to the growing market of smart fitness-devices.
