The aim of this self-proposed project was to develop a specialised prosthetic arm for below-elbow amputations at a reduced cost. A limitation currently faced by the prostheses industry is that with a custom design comes a large associated cost, and depending on the severity of the amputation, the age of the amputee, and their particular needs, these costs can be detrimental. Children outgrow their prostheses as fast as they outgrow their clothes, so why can’t the prostheses be equally replaceable?
