About Team
The Grantham Climate-Friendly Pop-Up Kitchen aims to educate the public on climate-friendly cooking and eating. A stall at the Great Exhibition Road Festival 2023 was set up by the team to advertise plant based and low waste diets. We offered highly popular recipe demonstrations and tasting from local London chefs (Made in Hackney, Kitchen Academy) to discover and take home tasty, affordable and climate friendly meal recipes.
Alongside sustainable food sample tasting, we collaborated with food experts (Dr Charlotte Vrinten, Dr Richard Carmichael, Elizabeth Fonseca, Dr Tilly Collins) to design educational activities with quizzes and games. Three interactive games were made with the aim of debunking the myths associated with climate friendly foods and convince the public that:
· It is indeed climate friendly
· It is good for one’s health (plant based can be rich in protein!).
· It is in most cases more affordable than a meat and dairy rich diet.
