About this Challenge Team

We teamed up with the Student Union and the Environmental Society to put on a Repair & Upcycling Workshop and Clothes Swap as part of Sustainability Week 2022.  

Repair & Upcycling Workshop 

Our workshop started with a fascinating talk by Aida Rafat Abouelela on some of the key challenges facing the fashion industry. Attendees then had the opportunity to learn and practice several stitching techniques to repair their own clothes. The practical element of the workshop was facilitated by Vicki Hong from RCA.  

Clothes Swap 

At the clothes swap event, 113 items were donated, 70 items exchanged, and 26 items were bought in our final hour pound shop! The money from the final hour pound shop was donated to Traid, whom we partnered with to collect the remaining clothes. We received really positive feedback and attendees were keen for more regular clothes swap events on campus.
