Before graduation

Registration for late awardees (whose degrees were conferred 1 September 2024) will open on 4 September.
Late awardees will need to complete the steps below, to confirm their place at Commemoration Day 2024.

1. Register

Commemoration Day 2024 will be held on Wednesday 16 October. Registration opens in early August 2024 and eligible graduands will receive an invite by email to the email address the college has on file. You can update your contact details and communication preferences by completing the Ongoing contact form.

2. Purchase your guest ceremony tickets

Your family and friends can celebrate with you in the Royal Albert Hall!

Registered graduands can purchase a maximum of 2 guest tickets for the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall. Guest tickets cost £24.99 per ticket. Graduands can purchase ceremony tickets as part of the registration process.

3. Hire your academic dress

Academic dress is compulsory for all graduands at an Imperial College London graduation. Our official gowning partner is Ede & Ravenscroft.

If you choose to use Ede & Ravenscorft please hire your gown as soon as possible and by no later than 27 September.
If you hire your academic dress from another provider, you must ensure that it matches the standards set out in the Academic Dress section of the website.

The College retains the right to refuse entry to anyone dressed incorrectly.

4. Departmental reception passes

Departmental receptions are an opportunity for graduands, their guests, and members of the department to gather on the day and celebrate their achievements together.
Guest passes will be £15 per guest and graduands can purchase a maximum of two guest passes as part of the registration process.

Do you need a visa?

Please check the UK Government guidance on whether you need a visa to travel to London. The International Student Support may also be able to provide guidance on submitting your application.

If you or your guest(s) require a supporting visa invitation letter from Imperial College London, this can be requested in the Visa Letter Support form.
Please note, that only graduands who have been awarded in the university's systems, and invited to graduate, will be able to complete the form.

Obtaining a visa may take several weeks and it is your responsibility to ensure you have completed all legal requirements before you travel.
