Characterising patterns of infectious disease transmission from identical pathogen sequences
While licensed vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, influenza and RSV are effective against severe disease, none have been able to control epidemic and pandemic spread. Here, I will describe my group’s recent work using controlled human infection and vaccination studies to investigate immunity in the respiratory tract associated with protection from infection as well as symptomatic disease, and thus accelerate the development of next-generation vaccines with transmission-reducing potential.
