A talk by Russian artist in exile Pavel Otdelnov, where he delves into his art projects Hometown and Acting Out. In this talk, Otdelnov explores the relationship between contemporary Russian identity and Soviet nostalgia and illustrates how the Soviet past has been reimagined as the future. Through the lens of art, he unpacks the theme of a special Russian mission, the absurdity of autocracy and the destructive nostalgia that fuels current conflicts. This talk reflects upon the societal consequences of clinging to a past that has distorted the future.
