The environmental impact of aviation is a significant concern that much of the research done in the Department of Aeronautics seeks to address. Join Dr Errikos Levis for this mini taster lecture which will introduce you to the fundamental theory of cruising flight and aircraft mission performance. We will use our new understanding of the principles that govern cruising performance to discuss some of the options for reducing aviation’s environmental impact and the possible barriers to their adoption
Dr Levis is a Principal Teaching Fellow and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Department of Aeronautics. His primary research and teaching interest are in aircraft design, flight mechanics and optimization, concentrating on novel concepts and the methodologies required for their conceptual design and analysis.
Lasting one hour, you will have the opportunity to hear the 40 minute lecture by Dr Levis before participating in a Question and Answer session. Our Recruitment, Admissions and Outreach Manager, Jennie Long, will also be there to answer any questions on the admissions process.
This session is suitable for prospective Undergraduate students.
