The Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions (ROAR) is a new facility based at Imperial College. We provide the hardware, software, and supporting expertise to support data-rich investigations into chemical reactions and processes. Our ambition is to use automated experimentation platforms to generate the comprehensive datasets needed for application of data science techniques to solving chemical challenges. Associated with ROAR is the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Next Generation Synthesis & Reaction Technology (rEaCt) which is training up the next generation of scientists with skills in chemistry, chemical engineering, automation and data sciences. This talk will give an overview of the ROAR facility and rEaCt CDT, and will highlight potential opportunities for the robotics and AI communities to apply their expertise to new challenges in the chemical sciences.
Presenter
Ben is the Facility Manager of the Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions (ROAR). He uses his 10 years of experience in reaction automation and reaction analysis to support the facility users throughout their adventures in data-rich chemical synthesis experimentation.
