Classroom course at South Kensington

Previous experience: Designed for those who have completed our Korean 1 courses (Parts 1 and 2) and Korean 2 (Part 1), totaling 60 contact hours or equivalent experience, this course is suitable for those wishing to gain further competence in the language. If unsure of your proficiency level please do seek level advice from our Korean Coordinator prior to enrolment

This course aims to consolidate and enhance the skills acquired in Korean 2 (Post-Beginners) Part 1 or on similar courses elsewhere (totaling a prior learning experience of 60 hours or more).

The course is designed to develop spoken and written language skills across a variety of contexts by introducing authentic, everyday situations that facilitate the use of more diverse and complex grammar and expressions. It will cover a broader range of grammar, expressions and vocabulary, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of modern Korean language and society in both informal and formal settings.

The main grammatical areas covered are:

  • Direction and Transportation: Expressions related to giving and understanding directions and navigating transportation;
  • Permission: Requesting information and giving advice;
  • Imperative: Describing symptoms in a doctor’s office;
  • Suggestion: Writing emails and correspondence for social and business contexts;
  • Relative Clauses: Describing shapes, appearances and chronological events.

By the end of the course, students will be able to engage in more specific and detailed situations on a variety of topics, including business events, trip planning and contemporary social issues, using more complex grammatical structures and expressions.
