Art Class: Drawing and Painting from Nature - starts January

This course is a practical class and each week your tutor will set up a series of projects to allow you to paint and draw.

Your tutor will give some general advice to the group, and then offer individual suggestions and advice to members of the group during the class. You will be able to develop your skills and interests at your own pace.

There is no requirement to undertake specific reading for this course. However you will need to purchase your own art materials and bring them with you to the class each week.

Jo Fisher Roberts has always loved drawing nature. Her first exhibition was when she was sixteen in the Old House at Halls Place in Bexley. She then trained in art at the Slade School of Fine Art where she finally achieved a Masters of Fine Art. She went on to train in illustration at Putney School of Art and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. She now works as a freelance artist and illustrator as well as teaching.

Botanical illustration and Natural History illustration are her favourite subjects to teach; she says “there is something very enjoyable about teaching people how to slow down and really look at the natural world around them.”

Late enrolment

It is possible to enrol on many of our adult education courses after the course has already started. For non-language courses this is subject entirely to agreement by the tutor. For language courses it is subject to agreement by the language coordinator conducting level assessment. If you want to join a course late do bear in mind there might be work you will need to catch up on, particularly in language courses.

Enrolment and payment run through the Imperial College eStore. When enrolling:

• Do check on the drop down menu above called "Course Fees and Rate Categories" to see if you are eligible for a discounted rate and also do make sure you select that rate when enrolling on the eStore
