The residential sessions are designed to make maximum use of contact time. The syllabus will be provided in advance with guided reading and distance study materials so that students  come prepared to be led through a 10-15 hour short-course for each section of the course.

Such focussed learning and assessment helps the students get an intensive immersion in the subject which builds upon prior learning and previous study undertaken.

Preparation for each week would include online study with tutor access as well as tasks such as multiple-choice questions or short essays to ensure basic theory is digested and understood.

The outline below demonstrates how each residential session will be structured. It is possible for each week to be split in half to maximise flexibility. Each week will comprise two sessions of 8 teaching/assessment slots.

Example timetable
Date/Time MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFridaySaturday
 Morning session  Session A  Session A  Session A  Session B  Session B  Session B
 Afternoon session  Session A  Session A  Session A  Session B  Session B  Session B
Evening session  Topical Seminar  Session A  Free for networking  Topical Seminar  Session B Free for networking
example timetable for a one week residential session

For example, the first half of core module A (which in practice is likely to be a stand alone sub module) will be offered in Session A of Week 1 and the second half (another stand alone module in practice) in Session B. The first half of core Module B will be offered in Session A of Week 2 and the second half in Session B. Therefore, the candidate unable to devote an entire week at one time can cover each module over two separate residential sessions of 3 days each.

A similar approach would apply for elective modules, with each fitting into Session A or B of the residential weeks.
