The procedures below constitute the requirements for new FoE lecturers in order to progress through probation, unless the member of staff is registered to, and completes the PG Cert in University Learning and Teaching via the Educational Development Unit.
The completion of workshops and collated information of peer observations will be used as evidence of fulfilment of the teacher training requirements for probationary lecturers. It is expected that the teacher training requirements will normally be completed within 1-2 years of appointment and must be finished within the period of probation. A mid-probation review will usually be undertaken during year 2 of probation and should involve both the Academic Adviser and Director of Undergraduate/Postgraduate Studies to evaluate the teacher training requirements and identify areas for future professional development in education delivery.

Advance HE Fellowship Recognition
Either during your probation as additional professional development, or at a future point of your Higher Education career you may consider applying for Advance HE Fellowship Recognition, although it is not a formal requirement for probation. There are different levels of professional recognition, and information on can be found on the STAR Framework website. The process is facilitated through the EDU’s internally accredited STAR framework.
You are strongly advised to attend a STAR pre-submission workshop to provide additional support with your application. This will help you to assess whether your application is ready to be submitted for review.
Once finalised, the application form should be submitted via the Imperial STAR Framework webpage.
