The Shell Eco-Marathon is a competition that encourages engineering students across the world to design and build the most fuel-efficient vehicles possible. The objective of this project was to design a new carbon fibre chassis with titanium lugs and composite panels for an Imperial Racing Green Shell Eco-Marathon vehicle. The chassis aims to be lighter and stronger than the current steel chassis, in a race based around fuel efficiency. The chassis must also pass the Shell Eco Marathon Regulations about driver safety, and must have the additional functionality of allowing for easier access to the powertrain.
