Sir David King, Head of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group
Sir David King is a distinguished scientist and climate advocate, currently serving as the Head of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG), an independent panel of leading scientists focused on advising the public, the private sector, and government organisations on how they can steer the world toward a safe and manageable future for all. His extensive career in public service includes his role as the UK Government's Chief Scientific Advisor from 2000 to 2007, where he played a pivotal role in shaping national science policy. From September 2013 until March 2017, Sir David was the permanent Special Representative for Climate Change, representing the UK in international climate negotiations.
Sir David's academic contributions are profound, with over 500 published papers on science and policy, earning him global recognition and numerous awards. He holds 22 Honorary Degrees from prestigious universities worldwide. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Sir David was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1991 and a Foreign Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2002. He was knighted in 2003 for his services to science.
