'The Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship
is central to our learning and teaching strategy. Its training and academic programmes provide the distributed educational scholarship and expertise that underpins curriculum review and innovation. Its pedagogic research support facilitates robust evaluation of curricular change and gives Imperial a new voice in STEMMB-focused educational literature.'
Professor Simone E Buitendijk, Vice-Provost (Education)
The Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship provides a new focus for pedagogic scholarship and research at Imperial College London. It incorporates the EDU who provide a broad spectrum provision that supports the educational development of all who teach Imperial students. It is home to our academic programmes and PhD students undertaking pedagogic research.
There are existing pockets of ongoing educational research and research interests distributed across College. This new centre will support and organically develop this existing research with a strong alignment with the 2017 . This strategy requires us to take a rigorous, critical, evidenced-based approach to excellence in both STEMMB research and education; and actively contribute to relevant pedagogic research literature.
The Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship will support existing pedagogic research and scholarship at Imperial College and aims to facilitate the further development of world class, STEMMB-focussed pedagogic research that will both underpin our educational practice and contribute to the global body of knowledge on active learning.
