EPSRC Centre for Mathematics of Precision Healthcare

Precision healthcare seeks to deploy therapies that are sensitive to the particular genetic, lifestyle and environmental circumstances of each patient. Understanding how best to use these numerous features about each patient is a true mathematical challenge.

The EPSRC Centre for Mathematics of Precision Healthcare at Imperial will serve as a focal point by linking up mathematical, computational and medical capabilities at Imperial around the theme of multi-scale networks for data-rich precision healthcare.

Medicine is undergoing a simultaneous shift at the levels of the individual and the population: we have unprecedented tools for precision monitoring and intervention in individual health, and we also have high-resolution behavioural and social data.

Bioinformatics Data Science Group

The Imperial College Bioinformatics Support Service (BSS) changed its name on June 1st 2016 to the Bioinformatics Data Science Group (BDSG). As before, the Bioinformatics Data Science Group works with researchers and post-graduate students across all College faculties, on all campuses. Our mission is to provide and co-ordinate world class research and training in bioinformatics within Imperial College, disseminate good practice and to provide state-of-the-art bioinformatics support to members of Imperial College for their research

ITMAT Data Science Group

The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) Data Science Group is a talent pool funded by the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (Imperial BRC).

It is composed of six domain data scientists (bioinformatics, genomics, software engineering, biostatistics, and imaging). This group is headed by Professor Robert Glen from the Department of Surgery and Cancer and co-lead by Dr Elsa Angelini from the NIHR Imperial BRC.

CHEPI- Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation

The Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation (CHEPI) is built around a distinctive programme of research and teaching on health economics, policy and management. The focus of CHEPI’s work is on the incentives that drive productivity, quality and innovation, both at the health system and organisational level; on the incentives that drive health-related behaviours at the individual level; and on the factors that determine the success of health policies designed and implemented by governments.

Big Data and Analytical Unit

The Big Data and Analytical Unit is a multi discipline team which collaborates with a large network of researchers across the college to ensure the maximum use, impact and dissemination of research using healthcare data.

We currently provide the only fully certified ISO 27001:2013 research environment within Imperial College. We also are 100% compliant with NHS IG Toolkit Level 3 (EE133887).

The meteoric rise of cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin in particular, has received global attention, not least from governments, entrepreneurs and researchers.
