Why did you choose to study at Imperial?
Having always been interested in computers and technology, it was a natural choice to opt for studying at Imperial College.
Tell us about your time at Imperial
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Department of Computing (DoC), I was able to complete my Masters degree in Artificial Intelligence (before it was fashionable) and have a great deal of fun in and out of the lecture theatres. In my time I also was a Union Steward, Captain of the Fencing team and Chair of DoCSoc.
Can you tell us what you’ve done since Graduation?
Since graduating, I have worked in some of the largest financial organisations in the world and helped to start a couple of companies. I have been fortunate to be able to offer work placements to 3rd year students every year since I left.
How has what you learnt at Imperial helped you in your career so far?
In terms of degrees, in my opinion, Imperial is without peer. It benefits me every time I am in a meeting with a colleague or client and I am blessed to be working with a good number of DoC grads.

Philip's advice for current students
"Use your time at Imperial to get life skills and experience in addition to seeking out summer work placements. Try to find a job that you find fun and one that gives you a chance to stretch your degree."
