Our campus visits for school and college students will take place between November 2024 and July 2025.
We offer campus visits for students in the UK at state secondary schools and colleges throughout the academic year.
Our campus visits are targeted at students in Year 9 – Year 12. We offer a STEM-focused Talks and Tour Day (10-100 attendees) or a Practical Reach Out Lab Day (10-30 attendees). We also offer a STEM Lecture each term which accommodates larger numbers based on lecture theatre capacity. Talks and Tour Days and our STEM Lectures have the capacity for multiple schools to attend these events.
Our Talks and Tour Day and Practical Reach Out Lab Day may include:
- An ‘Introduction to Imperial’ presentation
- A talk from an Imperial PhD student about their research
- An opportunity for pupils to ask questions to current Imperial students
- A campus tour
- A practical lab-based activity in either Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Engineering
STEM Lectures run each term and aim to highlight STEM subjects to secondary school pupils. Previous lecture subjects include Bioengineering, Earth Sciences and Why We Study STEM.
If you are a teacher and would like to register your interest for a visit, please see the information below.

Please note that we are only able to book rooms six months in advance, so some dates may be subject to change depending on availability.
The number of requests we receive each year exceeds the number of visit days we have available, so we have some priority measures in place to assess school suitability for on-campus activities.
As the Outreach Team coordinates these visits, we particularly encourage state schools with a high proportion of students receiving free school meals/who are eligible for pupil premium to request to book. We also consider school attainment and school location (looking at POLAR/IMD measures).
Please note that Imperial's Recruitment Team run visits for school groups too. If your school does not meet the priority criteria above, we recommend applying for a visit with them. We also offer self-guided tours of campus.
Imperial also runs the Newlands Lecture Series for students in years 10 – 13, their teachers and parents. The annual lecture is free to attend, but spaces are limited in the lecture theatre, and are available on a first-booking basis.
To request a visit with us, please complete the Outreach Campus Visits 2024/2025 request form.
We are only able to consider your request if it is submitted at least two months before the date you would like to attend.
Please note that completion of the request form does not guarantee a visit. We will prioritise applications based on the above criteria, and let successful schools know at least 2 months in advance of the session that they have been selected.
Please note, for STEM Lectures, schools will only be able to attend one of the three events to ensure we reach a wide range of state schools and pupils from across the country. The maximum number of places per school is 30 students plus teachers.
